No Festival Required: It started with a chance encounter on MySpace, and by July 2008, after some emails and phone calls, Steve Weiss of No Festival Required confirmed our screening at the fabulous Phoenix Art Museum. We set the date for Sunday, February 22nd, 2009, Oscar night, in the museum's Whiteman hall. Here are the before / after pics:
Sold out to the last seat (including folding chairs), this screening was wonderful. I got to see DaNelle and Steve again, whom Ralph and I filmed in 2006, met some Facebook friends in person, and looked through a couple of 1001 Journals Project journals people brought to the screening.
I'm making an entry in one of Steve Salik's handmade journals, DaNelle and Steve looking on. On the desk the 1000 Journals DVD and Compilation Book, and several 1001 and 1000 Journals Project journals. On loan for two weeks, I took home Theresa's travel journal from a trip to England, a wonderful combination of diary, scrapbook, and sketchbook.
Steve Weiss of No Festival Required makes some notes in Journal 979. Great conversation with Quinn McDonald, who followed up with a blog post, an Amazon review, and suggestions about outreach and marketing, and great fun with Ellen and Denise...
And here are Phoenix screening reviews from The Paper Studio, Theresa Hall, and from Quinn Creative.
Update: Theresa Hall and I exchanged journals. Here are her contributions to Journal 585 which she had on loan for two weeks.
