If you're in San Francisco tomorrow afternoon, don't miss this performance piece: Based on journal entries written by teen patients at UCSF Children's Hospital, 100 Journals, The Play captures experiences with chronic illness and hospitalization, brought to life by local student performers from several S.F. High Schools.
This spin-off of the 1000 and 1001 Journals Projects has enabled pediatric patients to connect with each other, the staff, and their families in wonderfully creative and profound ways. The books are passed from patient to patient, encouraging them to express their thoughts, feelings, and dreams through writing and drawing. In collaboration with UCSF, students from University High School, the Urban School, and Wallenberg High School have translated the experiences conveyed in the journals into a three dimensional performance piece.
